City of Polokwane Bursary South Africa 2017 – 2018



The Polokwane Local Municipality is situated in the region of the Capricorn District in the Limpopo province. Formerly known as “Pietersburg” and expanding over a area greater than 3000 square kilometers.


The City of Polokwane are awarding bursaries to their resident students who wish to study towards a degree or diploma qualification. There are no specified fields of study – all students from the Polokwane region, who meet the below criteria, should apply.


Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

  • South African citizen
  • Permanent resident within the Polokwane region
  • Accepted to study (or currently studying) full-time at a recognised tertiary institution in SA
  • Household income is less than R200 000/ annum
  • From a disadvantaged background

Please include the following items in your application pack:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Parents/ legal guardian ID documents (certified copies)
  • Proof of Residence (from an authorized traditional leaders/ ward councilor)
  • Matric certificate if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric June results if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Full academic record if currently at tertiary institution (certified copy)
  • Letter of acceptance to study full-time at a recognised tertiary institution
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income of less than R200 000/ annum (certified copies of latest payslips/ latest financial statements if self-employed/ certified death certificates if deceased/ affidavit confirming that one parent is not working if only one parent is bringing in an income)
