City of Johannesburg Bursary South Africa 2017 – 2018

 

ABOUT THE BURSAR

Johannesburg is the biggest city in South Africa, home to 23,7% of the South African population and covering an area of over 1600km2. Most of the Johannesburg (Jo ‘burg or Jozi) population are young (under 30 years of age) as it is the economic or commercial hub of South Africa.

The government sector i.e. the City of Johannesburg Municipality are offering 100 bursary opportunities to South African citizens, living in Johannesburg who wish to pursue full-time undergraduate studies.
 

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The bursary programme will cover your tuition and registration fees, textbooks and/ or study materials (to a maximum of R25 000 per academic year).

The bursary programmes will be renewed annually, based on the students academic performance.
 

The bursary will cover the following faculties of study:

  • Build Environment (Architecture, Construction Management)
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Regional Planning
  • Commerce
  • Marketing
  • Communications/ Social Media
  • Community Services (Disaster Management, Emergency Medical Technician)
  • Engineering
  • Environmental Management
  • Finance (Accounting, Auditing, Economics, Small Business Management, Entrepreneurial, Supply Chain Management, Treasury)
  • Sports Science
  • Health (Nursing)
  • Medicine
  • Information Technology
  • International Relations & Protocol
  • Municipal Governance
  • Curatorial Studies
  • Law
  • Library
  • Local Government Science/ Political Science
  • Logistics
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Production and Operations Management
  • Quality Assurance
  • Geo Information Science (GIS)
  • Real Estate (Property Valuation, Property Management)

 

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before applying:

  • South African citizen
  • Strong academic record
  • Completed Matric or currently in Matric
  • Permanently reside within Johannesburg
  • Studying or planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying or planning to study at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • Been accepted to study with your tertiary institution of choice

  • ID Document (certified copy),
  • Latest academic record (certified copy),
  • Proof of residence in Johannesburg (rates account/ utility bill) (certified copy).
